Gunn Goes To Washington

Saturday, August 21, 2010

William leslie Gunn, Jr., "Bill Gunn" a Tea Party activist and candidate for the First Congressional district of Massachusetts is going to Washington on Monday, but not as a congressman, yet. Mr. Gunn will be going there to serve the local community, while serving out his sentence (40 hours of community service) for disrupting Congress during the Obamacare debate in Washington. Mr. Gunn and a fellow tea party member allegedly yelled into the house chambers during the vote for Obamacare, yelling "Kill the Bill". The story was carried by several news outlets at the time.

Unlike many democrats like, Rep. Charles Rangel (D) of New York, accused of tax evasion and campaign violations and Rep. Maxine Waters (D) of California who is facing a trial for allegedly steering federal funds toward a bank with connections to her husband, Mr. Gunn faced his accusers swiftly, took the punishment, and will now be in washington to serve it, while hopefully setting an example.

Although the charges were not as serious as Rep. Rangel or Rep. Waters, there needs to be a message sent that no one is above the law, Period! Mr. Gunn has been holding many "Town Hall Style" meetings in his district (which Rep. Olver failed to do during the debate over Obamacare) and hopes that his efforts will not go un-noticed in November as he is trying to unseat Rep. John Olver (D) Massachusetts.
